'Ganguly still has more cricket'
Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq today has said that Sourav Ganguly could have served India for a couple of years more.
"Sourav Ganguly could have served India for sometimes more. He is a quality player, who have proved himself in a number of occasions. It should be one's own decision when you want to quit the game and I think, he has made his mind in the right time," Inzamam said.
The former captain also felt that other cricketing nations' withdrawals from touring the trouble-torn Pakistan was affecting Pakistan cricket.
"If the situation does not change, this will hamper the Pakistan cricket and the players will be the ultimate sufferers. Pakistan is still a safe venue for international cricket," he said.
After the Champions Trophy was postponed till next year by the ICC, the Pakistan Cricket Board's efforts to arrange a home series dealt a blow as West Indies have opted not to tour next month because of security concerns and the decision comes a week after the West Indies women's team called off the Pakistan leg of their Asian tour.
Inzamam suggested that a world level match, involving players from all the cricket playing nations should be staged in Pakistan to clear the air of insecurity.
"Some nations are ready to come to Pakistan while others are raising the security concern. Postponement of the Champions Trophy was a tough decision for the PCB. I suggest a match involving two or three cricketers from each nation, should be organised which will make people understand that there is no actual security concern in for cricketers there," Inzamam said.
Champions Trophy, which was scheduled last month, was postponed after some nations including Australia raised security concerns.
