Ind vs Aus, 1st Test: Day 2 highlights

A look at the stats highlights of the second day's play in the first Test between India and Australia at Bangalore on Friday.

- Australia (430) registered their second best score at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore - their highest being 474 in October 2004.

- Playing against Australia at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, Zaheer Khan (5/91) produced his best bowling performance in India. His first five-wicket haul in India is his sixth overall in Test Cricket.

- Zaheer, with his aforesaid performance, became the first Indian speedster to capture five wickets in an innings against Australia at Bangalore. Overall, he is the third Indian bowler to bag five wickets or more in an innings against Australia at this venue, joining Harbhajan Singh - 6/78 & 5/146 in 2004-05 and Anil Kumble - 6/98 in 1997-98.

- Zaheer is one of the four Indian speedsters to bag five wickets in an innings at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, joining Karsan Ghavri (5/51 vs. West Indies in 1978-79); Kapil Dev (5/68 vs.Pakistan in 1983-84) and Ishant Sharma (5/118 vs. Pakistan in 2007-08).

- Zaheer is now the second Indian pacer to claim five wickets in an innings against Australia in India, joining Kapil Dev, who had accomplished the feat twice - 5 for 74 at Kolkata and 5 for 82 at Delhi, both in 1979-80.

- Shane Watson, playing in his first Test in three years, registered his lowest score in Test Cricket.

- Since making his Test debut against Pakistan at Sydney in 2004-05, Watson has made 31, 24, 10, 16 & 2, aggregating 83 runs at an average of 16.60 in five innings (four Tests).

- Michael Hussey's ninth century in Tests is his second against India.

- Hussey's innings of 146 off 276 balls is his highest against India (and his second best in Test cricket), bettering his 145 not out at Sydney in January 2008.

- Hussey's aforesaid century is his second away from home in 9 Tests. He has recorded 7 hundreds in 17 Tests in Australia.

- Hussey's only previous hundred away from home is his career-best 182 against Bangladesh at Chittagong (CDS) in April 2006.

- Anil Kumble, in his last seven innings against Australia, has conceded 100 runs five times - 43-6-129-0. Overall, he has conceded 100 runs in an innings 14 times against Australia - the most by any bowler. Only twice he has failed to take a single wicket even conceding 100 runs or more in an innings against Australia - the first instance being at Sydney in January 2000 - 33.2-6-126-0.

- Overall, Kumble has conceded 100 runs or more in an innings 56 times, earning a dubious distinction of an unwanted world record, eclipsing Muttiah Muralitharan's 55 such instances. Australia's Shane Warne is third in the list, having conceded 100 runs or more in an innings 40 times, followed by Pakistan's Danish Kaneria (32), England's Ian Botham (31) and India's Harbhajan Singh (31).

- Kumble is the only bowler in Test annals to concede 100 runs or more in an innings without taking a single wicket on six occasions - twice against Australia and once each against South Africa, Pakistian, West Indies and Sri Lanka.
