Sehwag: I love to bat long
Virender Sehwag, who won the Man of the Match award for his double ton in the second Test, said he loves to bat long.
Speaking at the post match presentation ceremony, Sehwag, who has now made it a habit of converting his tons into big knocks said he loves to carry on after getting his hundreds.
"I love to bat long. I love to carry on after reaching my ton. When you flop in the previous three innings, you have to make sure, you make up somewhere."
Sehwag scored a blistering 201 not out in his team's first innings total of 329. He then came back in the second essay to blast a savage 50.
Sehwag, who does not hold back on his shots said he was under no pressure despite the fact that India were trailing in thge series, coming into Galle and he himself was short of runs in the first Test.
"Well, I did not feel the pressure. I love to play my shots. The captain and coach also backed me and that gave me a lot of confidence too."
Sehwag termed the double ton in Galle was one of his best knocks because it came at the right time.
"The team needed a good start and someone had to bat through. So yes, it was definitely one of my best knocks. The team needed the runs at that stage."
Sehwag, during the course of his innings became the second Indian to carry his bat through an innings in Test cricket after Sunil Gavaskar.
