Thailand to change colours
Thailand's national team have officially changed their home colours from red to yellow to honour their king.
The Thais have traditionally played in an all red kit but have used yellow shirts and white shorts since last December in recognition of King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 80th birthday. The new home colours proved auspicious for the team as they claimed an eighth consecutive South East Asian Games gold medal late last year and the Bangkok Post reported on Saturday that FIFA had officially approved the Football Association of Thailand's request to change colours.
"Yellow is a lucky colour and it is also the King's colour," FAT secretary-general Ong-art Korsinka explained.
"We performed well last year in yellow shirt and won the SEA Games so we decided to make it our uniform for home games."
