Louis Saha

Saha: It was time to leave Man United

Everton new-boy Louis Saha believes the time was right to leave European and English champions Manchester United.

Saha completed his surprise move to Everton on transfer deadline day after United decided to let the Frenchman move on.

He has struggled with injuries for the last few years and at the age of 30, Saha believes he needs a new challenge.

"I think it was the right time for me and the club so I made the decision to join Everton and that is the main thing," Saha told Sky Sports News.

"I think when you get to 30 you have got a decision to make and I think it was the best one to do and choose the right club."

Saha is determined to regain his fitness at Everton and help the club challenge for a place in the top four.

"I think, obviously I have been in a situation with a lot of setbacks and I think it was good for me [to move] to find my fitness back.

"Obviously every player wants to play and I hope I am going to get that at Everton.

"A massive thing for me is that I want play at the highest level and get into the top four and I hope to achieve that with Everton."

The former Fulham man admits he is a few weeks away from making his debut for Everton as he looks to regain his fitness.

Saha added: "I think I am about three or four weeks [away from fitness].

"I will try not to make the same mistake [of coming back too early] and make sure I get back fit and stay fit. That is my aim."
