Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand hits on 7th fairway during the second day of the Hong Kong Open golf tournament

Thongchai takes slender lead

Thongchai Jaidee holds a one-stroke lead going into the final day of the Selangor Masters after play was suspended.

The Thai star was 14 under overall after 14 holes as he bids for his first title in almost two years.

"I played very well again and putted very well," he said.

"I enjoyed my day and I feel comfortable being in front. I'm going to keep to my game plan, try to make a lot of fairways and greens which I've been doing so far this week."

Ben Leong was in hot pursuit of Tongchai after firing to seven-under after 15 holes to close within a shot.

"I played really well today," Ben said.

"I didn't hit it great but my putting was spot on which made a difference. I made an 8ft par putt on the 10th hole which was the key as it kept my momentum going. That boosted my game and then I had three birdies in a row.

"I was telling myself to get to 10 or 11 under but I'm doing better than that. I hope to get to 18 or 19 under by the end of the final round."

Fellow Malaysian Iain Steele was a distant third on eight under, having picked up a total of two shots in the 14 holes he completed.
