Ramirez leads Dodgers to win
Manny Ramirez homered and finished a triple shy of the cycle as Dodgers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-3 on Sunday.
Ramirez, who was acquired from Boston in a three-team deal at the trade deadline on Thursday, had an RBI single in the first, a run-scoring double in the second and a solo homer in the fifth to give the Dodgers a 6-3 advantage.
It was the second homer in as many games for Ramirez, who went four-for-five in his third contest with the Dodgers. Kemp had an RBI single in the second and homered in the eighth for Los Angeles.
Randy Wolf (7-10) scattered six hits in five innings with three walks and seven strikeouts as the Houston Astros completed a three-game sweep of the New York Mets with a 4-0 triumph.
Jorge Campillo (6-4) allowed just six hits and did not walk a batter, striking out six in seven outstanding innings to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 5-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Reed Johnson belted a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the eighth inning and Alfonso Soriano added a solo shot later in the frame to lead the Chicago Cubs to an 8-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Brian Fuentes worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth inning as the Colorado Rockies rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Florida Marlins.
Greg Maddux pitched six strong innings and added an RBI single to help the San Diego Padres defeat the San Francisco Giants 4-1.
Lastings Milledge's solo home run started a four-run first Sunday as the Washington Nationals completed their first three-game sweep at Nationals Park with a 4-2 defeat of the Cincinnati Reds.
Shane Victorino slammed a three-run homer to cap an eighth-inning rally to power the Philadelphia Phillies to a 5-4 victory over the St Louis Cardinals.
